My Hubby As A Dad

Even though my hubby Rix is no financial expert or doesn't know which are the best penny stocks to buy, one thing I admire about him is that he's a wonderful daddy.

Being a father seems to come naturally to him, something I am envious of at times, but very thankful to God to have as the head of our family. It is amazing to see him play out the guidelines written in some parenting books that I have read, and he's not reading anything on parenting at all.

Rix connects with the children deeply and in a fascinating way. Daddies do really bring out the playfulness in kids.

It seems that he has this innate ability to know the perfect timing in situations or know the exact thing to say to our daughter Elle.

He also is great in disciplining Elle. In fact, she listens more to him than to me. I am glad to have him as my partner in raising these beautiful kids.

We did nothing special on Father's Day, read more on my post here. But, I wanted to write a tribute to my hubby as a dad.

I pray that our children will be closer to him as they grow up, especially our daughter. And that they will look up to him as a hero and role model, a representative of God the Father.

Happy Dad's Day in advance!

I was never very close with my dad. He's the quiet one, compared with my mom; although he is a known public speaker amongst his friends and associations. He was not very vocal to us about his feelings, asking permission for a sleep over was always with my mom. But he expresses his talents by playing instruments like the recorder. And somehow I know that he is quite an understanding man. I appreciate that now.

One of the things I love about my husband is that I realize now, he's a terrific dad to our daughter Elle. He's very hands-on, even when Elle was just a baby. It seems he is more adept at it than I am! He's also a better cook! I really am blessed to have him. It warms my heart to see father and daughter playing and laughing together. I could not remember a time when my dad and I were like that.

Speaking of dads, yesterday was the birthday of my grandpa who passed away last March. I would think that he was a good dad, his seven kids did turn out well. He then concentrated on being a good grandfather to us after grandma went ahead to heaven due to breast cancer. I think he was strong and he even put up a business so his kids could go to good schools. I miss him.

There was a Mother's Day last May, then it's only fair to have a Father's Day this June. A long time ago, daddies exist just to play with the kids. The type of play that involves lots of physical activities. The job of caring for the children was left to the mommies. The daddies of today are more different; they know how to bathe newborns, they are present when the kids are sick, they put the children to bed at times. At least, that's what I observed with my hubby and some other daddies whose stories I was shared with. I know that I am lucky, and Elle's even luckier to have a nurturing daddy like Rix.

To celebrate this day, my family along with my parents, my sister-in-law and nephew went to California Pizza Kitchen at Greenhills Theater Mall for lunch. We had frozen yogurt with fruit toppings afterwards while my nephew played a bit of arcade. Rix let Elle rode a mini carousel and I could tell she enjoyed it very much. Good thing she didn't cry for more when the 4 minutes were up. After that, we brought my parents, sister-in-law and my nephew home where we ate the caramel cake I bought, and consumed avocado shake. Yum! The calories!

Soon, very soon, it will be Mother's Day again. Hahaha!
